Did you just upgrade to Kodi Krypton 17 and is now getting a message popup when trying to install add-ons?

“For security, installation of add-ons from unknown sources is disabled”

Obviously, this message never appeared in the older releases of Kodi 16.1 and below. By Kodi implementing this step of enabling installation of add-ons from unknown sources, it allows to distant themselves and reduce the liability of being associated with pirating.

However, the process of enabling installation of add-ons from unknown is very and you’ll be back on your way of installation some great add-ons for Kodi

Enable-unknown-sources-01How to Enable Unknown Source

  • At your Kodi home screen
  • Select Settings
  • Select System Settings
  • Select Add-ons
  • Highlight “Turn on Unknown Source” and select to toggle on.
  • You will see this message
“Add-ons will be given access to personal data stored on this device. By allowing, you agree that you are solely responsible for any loss of data, unwanted behaviour, or damage to your device. Proceed?
  • Click Yes to agree
  • DONE

That’s pretty much it, you can now continue to install add-ons as you normally would like Kodi 16.1 and below.

Here are some screenshots of the steps required.
